FORT ASHBY, WEST VIRGINIA — The Fort Ashby community is mourning the death of Robert Wayne “Bob” Beeman, a 75-year-old longtime resident whose life was marked by family, military service, hard work and a willingness to help others.

Beeman died on Saturday, September 5, 2026, following an accident.

His death has left family members, friends and others who knew him remembering a man who spent much of his life working, helping others and staying involved with the people and activities he cared about.

Remembering Robert Wayne Beeman

Robert was born on September 25, 1950, in Cumberland, Maryland, to the late Armand Lee Beeman and Mary Virginia Beeman-Wilburn.

He graduated from Mount Savage High School in 1968 before serving his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

His military service was an important part of his life and contributed to the values of dedication and service that remained with him throughout the years.

A Life Built Around Family and Work

Bob was known for being someone who enjoyed staying busy and helping those around him.

During his working career, he was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad, Chessie System and CSX, eventually retiring from the railroad industry.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Elizabeth (Clites) Beeman, his second wife, Linda Jeanette (Gomer) Beeman, and his brother, Richard Lee Beeman.

He is survived by his son, Carl Ray Beeman, as well as his mother-in-law, Mildred Clites, sister-in-law Lisa Louise Stoutmeyer and her husband Dan, brother-in-law Tim Clites and his wife Kim, and special friend Mary Ann Weaver.

His family and friends are now left to remember the years they shared with him and the many ways he touched their lives.

Funeral Arrangements for Robert Beeman

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, Maryland.

A second period of visitation will take place Monday morning, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m.

Pastor Steve Leydig will officiate.

Bob will be laid to rest beside his first wife, Marie, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in LaVale, Maryland.

Military honors will be provided by the VVA Chapter 172 Honor Guard, recognizing his service in the U.S. Navy.
