TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS — A New Bedford woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a weekend shooting at a house party in Taunton that left one man dead and seven other people injured.

Sienna Barboza, 25, of New Bedford, is facing one count of murder and seven counts of armed assault with intent to murder in connection with the shooting, according to prosecutors.

The charges stem from a shooting early Sunday morning at a home on 261 Weir Street in Taunton.

What Happened in the Taunton Shooting?

Taunton police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and several people shot at approximately 12:35 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found several people at the residence and determined that a large gathering had taken place in the yard.

Investigators ultimately identified eight shooting victims, all described as being in their early 20s. The victims were transported to area hospitals either by emergency medical services or through self-transportation.

One Person Killed, Seven Injured

One of the victims, 22-year-old Zirovick Depina of Brockton, died from his injuries later that morning.

Seven other people were injured in the shooting. One victim was reported to be in serious but stable condition, while the remaining victims suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities have not released the identities of the other injured victims.

Sienna Barboza Arrested

Investigators arrested Sienna Barboza, a 25-year-old New Bedford woman, in connection with the shooting.

She has been charged with:

  • Seven counts of armed assault with intent to murder

Barboza was expected to appear in Taunton District Court for arraignment on Thursday, September 10.

The charges are allegations, and Barboza is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Taunton police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office are working to determine exactly what led to the gunfire at the gathering and what role each person involved may have played.
