Gulfport Shooting Today: 2 Killed at Crossroads Mall AT&T Store, Suspect Arrested

GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI — Two people were killed Monday morning in a shooting inside an AT&T store at Crossroads Mall in Gulfport, Mississippi, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The victims were identified as 31-year-old Shane Basquill of Kiln and 78-year-old Mary Anne Oberlies of Gulfport. Basquill was an employee at the store, while Oberlies was a customer.

Suspect Arrested

Gulfport police identified the suspect as 71-year-old Samuel Jerome Andrews of Harrison County.

Authorities said Andrews was taken into custody after officers stopped his vehicle. He was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.

According to police, Andrews is being held on two counts of first-degree murder without bond and a $500,000 bond for one count of shooting into a crowd.

Police have not announced a possible motive for the shooting.
