Chappell was a passenger in the Nissan. She was found unresponsive following the collision and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Four Others Taken to Hospital

Four other people involved in the crash were also transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Chevrolet was being driven by a 47-year-old woman from Chili and had two juvenile passengers, ages 6 and 16. The other driver, a 74-year-old woman from Chili, was also hospitalized.

The juveniles were treated and released, while the two drivers were expected to recover from their injuries.

Police Determine Driver Failed to Yield

Investigators determined that the 74-year-old driver was traveling west on Stony Point Road when her vehicle collided with the southbound Chevrolet on Union Street.

Police said the driver failed to yield the right of way and was issued a traffic ticket.

Authorities also reported that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
